http://www.lalomaviva.com/La Loma Viva is a working farm, Permaculture Centre and training site. We are researching and applying Permaculture techniques within a Mediterranean climate setting. We also hold courses on many aspects of Permaculture, to get people inspired and empowered.
At La Loma Viva - “The Living Hill” - our vision is to bring together Earth Care and People Care. We provide a platform for the research, practice and education of Permaculture and personal development - evolving the tools that can be used to encourage health and resilience in people and places. We are located on 7.5 hectares of terraced farm land, nestled beneath the Sierra Nevada mountains, overlooking the Mediterranean sea, on the coast of Granada in southern Spain.
La Loma is a farm project using Permaculture - a revolutionary approach to agriculture and to designing human habitats that work in harmony with nature. We offer courses on Permaculture and related subjects, as well as providing opportunities to engage with nature and the land in an experiential way.
La Loma is also a teaching space and Retreat Centre - running workshops and classes on a number of practical arts - specializing in established disciplines which encourage mindfulness and well-being.
We offer the space for other teachers and practitioners to hold events that are aligned with our vision.
At La Loma Viva we wish to create an environment where we can “grow people and plants”, learn about all the inter-connected forms of life and rediscover our inherent and participatory relationship with the living earth.
We call it a “Middle Way” project as our approach is one of cultivating an open and curious outlook and exploring new possibilities between extremes.
Accommodation & Facilities
Nestled in the cave-like structure of the retreat centre are seven bedrooms. Each room has it`s own private access to the outside patios and gardens, is south facing and has a stunning view over the Mediterranean. Six of the bedrooms are twin rooms and one can sleep four people, with a maximum capacity of sixteen guests.
The rooms have a simple decor with an almost monastic feel, designed to create an ambiance of tranquility, minimalism without clutter, perfect for the relaxed workshop experience.
FoodWe aim to provide as much of the food as possible directly from our Permaculture farm, so that all the food here is fresh, organic and full of life. The land is also full of wild herbs and medicinal plants. Other produce which may be needed comes from farms in the surrounding area. Our meals are mainly vegetarian (with optional meat or seafood at times). We offer nutritious dishes and are always exploring new and creative ways to use our local ingredients.
