(projects i'm following)
I am basically a Computer worm (IT Professional), working in Dubai for 11+ years.
My interests are computers, mobiles, gadgets… Contrary to this I am attracted to 'Simple Living High Thinking'. Though I am able to tune my daily activities in this Simple Living High Thinking formula, I realize this can't be achieved without staying in a simple, self-sustained farm.
I was toying with philosophy, music (listening only), cob houses, rain water harvesting, living with cows, living in a community. Recently I was advised by a well-wisher to check 'Permaculture' out. To start with, it looked technical agricultural stuff. But since I started reading about Permaculture, I understand it is adding common-sense to agriculture.
My wife supports me immensely in these pursuits.
In 2012 we, along with like-minded individuals, purchased 25 acres of land near Salem, Tamil Nadu, India. We currently have housed 3 families there who are attempting various agricultural practices planning to achieve self-sufficiency. This is a strong team supported by an expert on ground. This team is close to producing most of their grain needs and is now working on their vegetable & fruit needs. Mud houses are done now. Cows will be in place in the coming months.... as we inching closer towards our goal.
We will move to the land soon. I would like to understand more about permaculture and try to implement when we actually move in. I am eager to be in the network of people and projects which are using Permaculture as a tool, locally here in UAE.
Update: We (myself & my wife) completed our Permaculture Design Certificate coure in Darjeeling with Rico Zook. Looking forward to apply the learnings in our Farm Community. Also, we are planning to attend Natural Building course next.

What to use after the job is done, soil or ash?
I am planning to take the PDC course in India - Darjeeling.
Something I have noticed in Myanmar on my travel is making me feel amazed...
