A community based project concentrating on permaculture education and training coupled with demonstrations resource center as well as several other volonteer projects targeting orphans, food security volontourism and support to local schools with"one child one tree"approaches.
Badilisha was founded on the principles of permaculture .This was prompted by high poverty level, food insecurity, sad situations of orphans and vulnerable children, widows and old persons and the defferent daunting socio economic issues and concerns along the lake re victoria region of kenya ranging from depletion of fish species in lake victoria to the extiction of various indegenious plant trees.
Since it s inseption, badilisha has managed to implement various community projects like supporting orphans and vulnerable children in partnership with kindergartens, implement one child one tree, which is asmall scale tree planting, purchased land and is setting a permaculture demonstration site with resource center and PDC.Like in march 9th to 22nd badilisha is hosting an International Permaculture Course in partnership with Quil springs.
Also we have initiated lo cost community based tourism where we give oportunitie to travellers to work and travel and interact with the local communities, this what we call volontourism,it generates income and as well support the local economy. The most important aspect is the mutualistic exchange where the host families learn from the traveller and the traveller also learns from the local community. While working with schools, youth groups, women groups and other organised community groups the volotourist gets the oportunity to visit our reach flora and fauna of the lake victoria besides visiting our prehistorical sites, like the birds island, peace meuseum in neighbouring island.
The project is till growing and our aim is to make it an International community where people from all over the world come to exchange ideas and knwoldge of how to save the mama earth.feel free to visit.
Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
