Growing up in South Africa, Kate was lucky to spend a lot of time outdoors close to nature and in the garden, being educated by her parents (unknowingly) in gardening, herbal plants and keeping chickens!
After many years of working in alternative education and publishing a children's book to teach children about their connection to Nature, she decided to start "practicing what she was preaching" and decided to change her urban lifestyle and start re-skilling/ re-learning.
She has volunteered and visited a variety of projects in Spain, Portugal, India, Nepal and Thailand. After an Intro to Permaculture Course at Sapney Farm, India, and being very inspired at Pebble Garden, Auroville, she completed a PDC with Rico Zook in Darjeeling.
She continues to organize and assist at PDC's (by offering yoga classes, Deep Ecology circles, getting the volunteer team members, kitchen, etc) She hopes soon to have the skills and conditions to create a learning and model site that can inspire a simpler, low-impact lifestyle!
She really believes another way is possible!
