Hi there, this is the profile of Franek, but it is more or less managed by me, Monica. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the read.
Hi my name is Franek, a young farmer living and working in rural Roznowice, Poland. I moved to the country side to develop my family farm of 7 hectares into a permaculture/certified organic farm and farmers co-operative.
For the last two years, I have been planting 4 hectares of organic buckwheat, rye, oat and milk thistle. This year I have also sown einkorn and spelt and am planning on expanding the crop variety with hulless oat, chickpeas, blue corn (hopi maize, in a 'milpa garden') and white lupin. I'm also expanding our vegetable garden. The remaining 3 hectares are a forest, meadow and part of it will hopefully soon develop into a community living space.
I am an aspiring Permaculturists, I don't hold a PDC yet, but have been studying the principles and practices through reading, watching online videos and implementing what I've learned.
I want to be part of the creation of a new wave of creativity and environmentalism in rural Poland. Still at the early stage of realizing my ambitions, I would really welcome support from people with a pioneer spirit and a hands-on approach. If that sounds more or less like you and you would like to take part in building a holistic eco- and social-project please contact me: lizard.folk.farm@gmail.com.
We are two people on the farm, me and my friend Monica. Monica, a Liberian-German retired vagabond, has obtained her Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) and natural building certificate in Malawi in 2010. Since then she has volunteered whenever she could on alternative farming and building projects in south-east Africa, Saint Vincent, Portugal and Israel. To find out more about Monica and what she is up to, go to www.monicabwagner.com
Both of us studied (Film/ Media and Cultural studies) and lived in London for many years. Although we love the cultural vibrancy of the city, we've deciding to get out of the circle of rush and crush as we are looking for an alternative to the pollution, noise, competition and culture of 'have it all, here and now'. Hence, you can find us now on a farm couple of hours away from culturally rich Krakow.
We would like to connect with similar 'hearted' and minded people as well as communities to exchange support, help find solutions and inspire one another.
Check out our project details on the left hand side of this page. If what you find resonates with you, give us a call or drop us an e-mail and we will get back you to...
