Permaculture Design Certification Course this May in Kenya with John Sheffy & PRI-Kenya

Full 72 hour permaculture design course with international teacher John Sheffy from University of Wisconsin and local teachers. You will be living and learning at Nyumbani Village, a centre for orphans with a permaculture farm.

his exciting PDC is run in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin Natural Resources Programme with International permaculture teacher and designer JohnSheffy, who has served in the Peace Corps from 2002-2004 as a Natural Resource Management Volunteer in Togo. John has applied his Peace Corps skills both on a professional level, as a sustainable agriculture program manager in Kenya and Mexico, and as an international community building coffee roaster. PRI-Kenya permaculture teachers will also join the course to add their local expertise.. You will take your PDC alongside students from the programme.The emphasis will be on practical learning and at the end of you will gain an internationally recognized PDC certificate. At the end of the PDC there is the option of coming along on a study tour to a Coffee Farm to study coffee agroforestry systems in Kirinyaga area. The tour will come at an extra cost. This two and a half weeks of intensive learning, an incredible networking opportunity, and an internationally recognized qualification with PRI-Kenya will have a focus on creating climate change, resilient systems and food security. This design course also includes a special module on Farmers Managed Natural Regeneration.

The cost of the course is Kenyan Students: 25 000-35 000 KSH (PDC + coffee farm tour: 30 000-40 000 Kshs) & International Students: 65 000 KSH / 750 USD (PDC+coffee farm tour: 75 000 KES / 850 USD). We operate a sliding scale depending on income and also offer a limited amount of full or partial scholarships for the course.
