Group photo with Lumia (our student Miki’s daughter), Tracey and Lucia (our kitchen crew) (and Maggie the dog)
A lovely and very diverse group of students left us last weekend after the 2 week course here at PRI Sunshine Coast. Everyone got along really well and there was a great group bond. Feedback was very positive, and everyone felt inspired to take Permaculture further. Whether as a teacher, farmer, urban permaculturist or helping indigenous communities, we were very pleased to see everyone so excited to spread the Permaculture word…

Catering throughout the course has been excellent, everyone eating together was extremely rewarding in setting an example of Permaculture community. PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
