Has professional background in architecture and landscape architecture.

Read a brief description of permaculture on a notice board in 1994 while he was still a student of architecture and was very interested. Purchased his first book on permaculture in 1998: Permaculture: A Designers' Manual. Took an intro to permaculture course from Jan Martin Bang in 2000, in Hasandede, Turkey. Started putting into practice some of the things he learned, between the years 1999 and 2005 at the urban co-housing initiative he and a group of friends started and lived in, in Istanbul. It was in 2007 that he attended a PPC (Permaculture Practical Certificate) course given by Bill & Lisa Mollison and Geoff & Nadia Lawton at the Mollisons' farm in Tasmania. Took his PDC, once again from Bill and Geoff, in January 2008, at Melbourne Uni. Returned to Australia once again in 2009 for an internship with Geoff at the PRI. Completed PDCTTC (PDC Teacher Training Course) & PAWTC (Permaculture Aid Worker Training Course) as part of the internship.

Founded the Permaculture Research Institute of Turkey in 2010 and was the managing director until 2017. Works now as a full time designer and consultant, continues to teach for the Institute and to farm in a village of Urla, Izmir, where he lives with his wife and two sons.
