Zia Parker, M.A., C.M.T. is a sustainability mentor and instructor, a Permaculture teacher, designer and consultant, and a community organizer. In ’88-90 she directed the Finca Permanente Agroforestry Project in W. Africa, which was used as a model for a $2.5 million project by the EU. She has joined the Permaculture teaching teams at Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture, the Indigenous Permaculture teaching teams at Black Mountain Navaho PCD. Her farm, Willow Way, was the first PC Demonstration farm in Boulder, Colorado. She has designed PC systems in five different climate zones, including the Wind River Arapaho/Shoshoni Reservation.
Since “transplanting” in Ecuador in 2013, Zia and her team continue to offer the Permaculture Design Course, creating a new PC model, Finca Vida Verde, in Vilcabamba, S.Ecuador. With over 30 participants from 8 countries and 5 different Ecuadorean provinces, her team of 10 teachers, equally Euadorean and international, and is the principal teacher.
As well, she helped initiate the Colectiva Agroecologica de Vilcabamba, which focused on public education and awareness of "transgenicos" (GMOs) and with this group later started the Feria Agro-ecologico, (organic market) since 2014 years.
Zia Parker has helped weave together indigenous people and their knowledge with Earth-loving methodologies from the modern world in Africa, Asia and N.America for over 30 years.
Unfortunately, our Permaculture Design Course students have found this website very difficult to navigate, and most of our graduates give up on getting it to respond appropriately before their graduation is registered. I would love to see this site working better so students can register their graduation from our PDC successfully!!
