Back to Isaac Harkness's profile

It has been a warmer than average May here in Northern Ontario. Plants were started weeks ago in old and new greenhouses. The new greenhouse was the first major project compeleted so far. It was built almost exclusively using materials that were on hand or borrowed. There are many young plant starts in both of these greenhouses that are going to begin to be moved out into the gardens beginning this week.
Nature is abundant around the property, so far we have seen a large black bear, deer, rabbits, partridge, a groundhog, squirrels, chipmunks and many smaller birds and birds of prey.
I created asparagus and leek beds and planted rhubarb in an effort to have more perennials around the central garden to add to the onions, garlic, strawberries, and herbs that are already there. The potatoes have been planted and the Three Sisters garden is also ready to be planted with sunflowers, corn and squash seedlings growing in the greenhouse.
After a long winter, it is great to be back outside making the vision come to life.
