hello! I'm a university student (graduate as of april 2011!) finishing a double major in studio art and geography. One thing I can say about my time in university is that the amazing people and networks ive come in contact with have taught me a lot about important issues being faced in this world. The thing for which i'm most grateful is that ive also gained from them a sense of agency and hope -and lots of solutions!
The thing about permaculture that floors me is what a major source of solutions it is. I love feeling that i have the tools to start improving the environment and community. I left every class of my PDC with more energy than i came in with. they say a good theory will also be a beautiful one, i think permaculture fits the bill.
I'm currently working as part of a team to turn empty lawn space on our campus into an incubator farm based on ecological agriculture and permaculture principles. The project is intended to provide a wealth of education opportunities to build food security, ecological awareness, and practical skills within the student population and wider community.
