Recent to permaculture, but an avid practitioner my whole life, always seeing the more efficient way to do things.
Although born and bred in Australia, I transferred to Greece in Dec2008. I completed my PDC in Istanbul in Nov2010, where I connected with a small tribe, through which I finally understood what connection is all about. Following the PDC, I spent 3 months in Portugal with my tribe, gaining invaluable hands-on fun-tastic experience setting up a PEDS (Permaculture Education Demonstration Site) in a gorgeous place called Vale da Lama. Ever since my return to Greece, I have been spreading permaculture like mad through introductory seminars and small practical workshops and co-organised Darren Doherty's first PDC in Greece in Sep2011, which was a huge success.
Overall, I nurture an insatiable appetite to spread this way of living. That's why I would love to:
a) propel the permaculture movement in Greece, by teaching introductory courses & augmenting the information about permaculture in Greek
b) set up a PEDS in Greece
c) create a fun permaculture educational video series that reformats people's hard drives and installs inspiration for what has got to be the way forward on this beautiful planet.
My colourful life history in terms of "formal" qualifications and experiences includes:
- PDC in Athens, Greece
- PDC in Istanbul, Turkey
- Grad Dip TV Production (AFTRS - Australian Film Television and Radio School), Sydney, Australia
- Cert IV Assessment & Workplace Training
- Cert IV Small Business Management
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering (Uni South Australia)
- Presentation & Communication skills, Customer Service & Sales Training, Leadership courses
- sales management roles with multi-nationals
- extensive European travel
- 3 x 10-day Vipassana meditation courses
- various creative-pursuits such as writing, greeting card design, sewing, knitting, etc
- Languages: Fluent English and Greek, Intermediate Spanish
These experiences have served my ability to think logically, irrationally, laterally and creatively, so now in a logical-irrational-lateral-creative kind of way, I am combining my skills to serve the permaculture and sustainability movement in Greece.
I look forward to connecting with you!
A strawbale building workshop for those serious about building their own, their friend's or their clients' natural homes. So if you are thinking about holidays in Greece, why not combine them with a great learning experience?
I've deleted at least 30 unused and useless accounts in the hope of becoming a little more active on the WPN: here is my account of Darren Doherty's PDC in Greece, Sep 2011, which I published on my blog last year, but neglected to add here. Sorry!
On the border of my 35th birthday, I find myself in a near-complete Portuguese luxury resort doing very unresort-like things: collecting cow manure from the fields, shovelling this into an attempted 18-going-on-30-day compost heap and cooking wild plant g
