Im keen to learn, work together, listen to the rhythms of nature, grow great food, harvest water, have a warm home, healthy children, save seed. Always been a gardener, did a BSc in Botany, with a bit of ecology and Zoology at Univeristy. Have spent the last 10 years teaching Iwi Environmental Management at certifcate, diploma and degree level. I've been working in Indigenous frameworks, and am interested in cultural conservation(decolonisation)...as a means for environmental conservation.
I went to Koanga gardens when it was in Kaiwaka and met Kay Baxter and family, we soon after worked on gardens in Whitianga, Te Whanau a Apanui. Geoff and Nadia came over to teach a PDC. I want to do more courses, and get more permaculture experience.
I'm doing consultancy work with my business Rangiora Consultants...which currently includes supporting 330 local, low income families to grow their own domestic gardens this 2011-12 growing season. Its about food security and sovereignty, self reliance and whanaungatanga. (sharing togetherness) The project is called 'Horowhenua Kaikai'- which called loosely translate to Horowhenua where food justs grows, in Shannon, Levin, Otaki and Foxton in New Zealand. I'll post pics as we go.
