I have had an interest in Permaculture for a long time- having worked designing compost loos and water systems, design and building vege gardens, living in eco -communities, and clay pizza ovens etc. Only last year have I completed a PDC. This PDC was with a Maori world view with the Teachers from Te Rito School in Otaki NZ.
My current interest is in Permaculture approaches to Post Disaster recovery- this will for the project part of the PDC.
I am a self employed development consultant with a background in Social Science and community development. I am also a qualified carpenter.
I have worked in Papua New Guniea, and Indonesia. Currently I am managing the Temporary Shelter recovery Project in Indonesia's remote Mentawai Islands for SurfAid International. This is second role with SurfAid. In 07-08 I designed and constructed the SurfAid Community Health Training Centre. A demonstration center of sustainable community best practice in Earth Quake resistant construction, water systems, sanitation, food production, tropical food forests and animal husbandry.
When I not working in International Development, I undertake various work in environmental consultancy, sustainable construction or other enjoyable and positive work that comes along.
