Leon van Wyk is a passionate young permaculture designer. He completed his Permaculture Design Course (PDC) at Northey Street City Farm in Brisbane, half way through Grade 12. With a solid foundation from studying Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography, he absorbed all the theory in his PDC, completing it hungry for more.
He moved to a 1/4acre block on Magnetic Island (off the coast of Townsville in North QLD) with his family 1 year ago; which is where he began putting some theory into action - busy establishing a Food Forest as well as outreach to the community. He has also learned (and continues to learn) from many mistakes about how [not] to waste his energy.
Leon recently registered a business called: INTEGRO PERMACULTURE SYSTEMS to provide consultancy and education services in the Burkedkin/Townsville region and beyond.
Leon has plans to start teaching Permaculture; and he's already got a few public talks and workshops behind him. The stage is almost set for him to organize the first PDC in Townsville since Bill Mollison came through in 1993. Planning to bring in fellow teachers and guest speakers, Leon will co-teach on this first-of-many PDC's; bringing access to Permaculture back to the locals of this region.
Permaculture Townsville Inc., is the local Pc group. Leon has attained the position of Secretary; and he's already established a partnership between them and the James Cook University (which should develop into a prosperous collaborative project, to be detailed soon).
Here's to a productive 2011 and to the next seven generations!
update to my business website <http://www.integro.info/> about moving to Cairns to study a Bachelor of Sustainability.
Tropical cyclones (or hurricanes) present a great pulse of energy that is usually seen as entirely destructive... this post will try change that judgement just a little, by exploring a permaculture perspective

an exploration of patterns and processes in reference to a photo
the host of SBS's Costa's Gardening Odyssey was in Townsville recently, invited by me on behalf of the Permaculture Townsville group and this is what happened.
Here are some photos that Leon finds relevant to Permaculture (either manifested permaculture systems/processes or images to be just interpreted with a pattern eye and mind)
