"If you want to feed a man for a day give him a fish, if you want to feed a man for a lifetime...teach him how to fish" We are a co-op comprised of top sustainability experts (green-builders, architects, designers. permaculturists, alternative-energy experts, teachers, people in the healing-arts and all around bright-brilliant souls). We work together towards a common goal- working with various non-profits, disaster relief, orphanages, schools and needs around the world. Give a little, gain a lot- and join hands with us today!
Voluntourism was borne after teaching permaculture and managing various farms over the past 10 years...and realizing just how valuable really amazing volunteers are. I have worked with various volunteer programs from WWOOFing, to World Farmers Exchange, and so often I found cases where farms were wasting precious time trying to pull work out of WWOOFers who just really wanted to smoke-pot and get a "free-ride". I also saw the magic and the incredible transformations that could happen when really eager, talented volunteers were placed with the right projects- and just how vital these volunteers became to the life of the project.
Slowly, I began a sort of database of all of my top students from permaculture projects, top WWOOFers and WFE interns from farms I managed...and I began placing my top-volunteers with other farms, non-profits, and projects that were in need. Over and over we saw powerful transformations occur....and so now this has organically grown into a co-operative of wonderfully brilliant sustainability experts, permaculturists, artists, healers, teachers, architects and builders who come together to support a common vision.
We work with needs around the world from small farmers who need some new life brought into their farm, to orphanages, and non-profits that need a miracle.
'The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.' - Gandhi
We are now expanding into new areas around the globe and are actively looking for more permaculturists who want to join our team. We are also always adding new projects to our lists...if you have a project that you would like featured on our website please feel free to contact us under "need Volunteers". We look forward to creating with YOU!

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |
