I'm currently living near Shimanto City in the Kochi Prefecture, Japan with my wife having moved from the Tokyo area earlier this year. This will be our base, for now, while we look for suitable land to develop along permaculture lines.
Talking to locals here I found an interest in different aspects of permaculture and sustainable lifestyle. So have decided to start teaching permaculture, this November. The plan is to run a series of one day events on permaculture and sustainability. The series together will cover the whole PDC syllabus.
But also the practical local knowledge here, in Kochi, on natural living is vast. Many practice permaculture perhaps without knowing it. Through these two-way discussions, we hope to learn together to build a real sustainable community throughout the west of Kochi and further afield with anyone else wanting to learn sustainability with us.
Update on events we have held or attended in January. February's plan is to start some more practical projects and our topic is water.
Brief report about the first of our introduction to permaculture classes held last week in Kochi.
