About William Kearns

Currently doing research and experiments in the shrub-steppe drylands (BSK) to mitigate the "evapo-transpiration exceeds precipitation" equation. Using mulch and wind-breaks extensively to build the soil and create micro-climates, we've also built a hugelkultur bed to evaluate how well the wood mass can hold moisture during our long, dry summers.

Consultant to the Afghanistan Samsortya reforestation organization, Wells College in Aurora, NY, the Lind Community Gardens & Education Center for site design, and also the food gardens project in Moses Lake.

Sponsor and host to the Inland Northwest Permaculture Conferences in 2011 (Spokane), 2012 (Missoula), and 2013 (Hayden Lake) ... and 1st place winner of the National Gardening Association/ESPOMA Environmental Stewardship Award in 2013. Currently building a nursery of dry climate tree species, including the threatened Chilgoza Pine (pinus gerardiana) native to the Himalaya Mountains in Afghanistan/Pakistan/India.
