The global scarcity of water, the food crisis, desertification, floods all over the world and large fires are not “natural catastrophes” but the result of water mismanagement. The ecological and technological knowledge of how to supply all people on planet earth with high quality drinking water, with sufficient food and with sustainable energy is currently available.
In Tamera, a water retention landscape, built with natural material, is being developed with the help of the visionary Permaculture specialist Sepp Holzer. The water retention landscape catches and stores rainwater, gives it time to sink into the soil, thus regulating the whole water cycle. This is a means of reversing the desertification, which has already begun, and preventing forest fires and flood catastrophes. Once the soil is saturated with water again, mixed forests can blossom and food biotopes can develop. Water retention landscapes are thus the base of a blossoming economy for self-sufficiency on land which had been lying fallow or which is impaired. This knowledge can be applied in any region of planet earth.
In Tamera, the positive effects of a large-scale water retention landscape can be observed: Nature recovers, biodiversity recuperates, all year round vegetables and fruits grow along the shores of ponds and lakes.
