Sarah Ashley Baxendell is a Permaculture Designer, Consultant and Teacher who was trained at the BioRegional Center for Living with Andrew Faust, and completed training in Sustainable Design at the Fashion Institute in New York. She is a founding partner and designer of the Permaculture Consultancy and Non Profit, Permatecture Design. She is first year bee keeping trained from Burgh Bees in Pittsburgh, PA.
Baxendell practices permaculture in Pittsburgh, NYC, D.C. Metro and Western Massachusetts.
Baxendell's recent projects have included:
(A) Mobile Permaculture Bus - a Mobile permaculture education bus with solar panels, water catchment, aquaponics, mobile apothecary, veggie conversion, and more!
(B) Love Bomb Seed Bomb - a campaign in Spring 2013 that threw 25,000 seed balls along coastal areas affected by Hurricane Sandy to restore dune grasses and re-establish pollinator habitats in NYC
(C) Bumble Weed Apothecary - a budding Pittsburgh herbalism and wellness cooperative
(D) The People's Garden, Pittsburgh - a two acre food forest project in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, PA
Sarah Ashley Baxendell is a coordinator of the Occupy Wall Street Sustainability working group, that brought permaculture education to Zuccotti Park. She is a former JP Morgan Stock broker and global inventory planner, who has dedicated her life to establishing education and projects around what she calls the "patterns of life." Baxendell strives to integrate art into design, finding innovative ways to make permaculture something that is both beautiful and functional for all life forms.
