(projects i'm involved in)
I am an ex Army Officer, 'explorer', TV presenter, documentary film-maker and many other things besides. I am still a writer and of late have been a boat skipper in the Mediterranean.
My wife and I, with help from our neighbours, have been building (part time) an Eco-lodge in Morocco for years now and became interested in the permaculture possibilities there after attending part of a course run by Darren Doherty in 2011. I haven't had much time to take it further until now.
Our neighbours - 39 families in two communities - scratch a living from the beach and from 100ha of very poor land. With diminishing rainfall it's getting very hard for them. I have introduced them to the very basics of permaculture and together we have started a cooperative.
To deal with fundraising and with a view towards spreading permaculture throughout the country, I have also started the UK charity: Fertile Roots Foundation.
The Eco-lodge is playing host to our first bi-lingual PDC in October 2014 and after that we'll come up with the plan to regenerate the area.
A Permaculture charity and a Permaculture cooperative in Morocco, both taking shape slowly but surely, and about to take a big leap forward.
Much is afoot and I'm laying eggs all over the place. The first one is already hatching....
