I have been gardening organically since a teen and tending a flock of chickens for nearly a decade. Homesteading and sustainable practices have always been a passion of mine, and I have also enjoyed many long hours of contemplative walks in the woods for most of my life.
Just in the past year I have familiarized myself with permaculture and began searching the web for more information. It was exciting to discover so many ways I could design and integrate our homestead, working with Nature to create restored and life-giving landscapes. I found an online PDC course with Alan Enzo, based within a two hour drive of my region, and decided to pursue certification.
After certification I will be implementing my designs for our homestead, and also plan to be a consultant. I hope to do a variety of designs for my low income rural area, and eventually teach design techniques suited for my region. If I do nothing else, I would like to be part of a team to "green the desert" for the Navajo reservation or other Native American displaced peoples.
