My wife and I moved our 43 foot sailboat onto a coffee farm in the mountains on the north coast of the Dominican Republic where we are living off-grid; learning to farm coffee, bananas, citrus, and a variety of other foods. We built a house in 2013 with many permaculture aspects including gray water recycling.
I am a chemical engineer by training and my wife is a chemist. We both worked in the environmental business when we were younger, but we retired. Traveling a while by sailboat and living on solar power and collected rainwater and always close to nature definitely confirmed our bias toward a natural and sustainable lifestyle. We are making this coffee farm our permanent retirement "dream" abode.
