I have been passionately interested by the living world, energy flows, the built environment and what makes people tick all my life.

I have worked in businesses of one sort of another for 40 years and run my own businesses for 30 years. My books, The Permaculture Way and The Permaculture Garden have sold tens of thousands of copies world wide.

During that time I have worked in construction, communications, electrical engineering, transport, organic food production, including fruit vegetables and poultry, promotion and distribution of food outputs, business advice, landscape design, training, training trainers, agricultural advice and political advocacy.

I have taught Permaculture in Scotland, England, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Palestine, France, Slovenia, Senegal and Guinea. I have witnessed its beginnings and growth in may more places than this.
