I was born and raised in the suburbs of southern California. My parents would take my sister and I camping in the Sierra Nevadas multiple times every year and I learned to feel very comfortable in the wilderness. After completing some college, I began to feel a great calling to travel. I decided one day to fly down to Central America and see what I could find there. For the next 4 or 5 years, I traveled around India, the US and South America in search of freedom and a more sensible way to live.
Recently, I was reminded of a friend I'd met while traveling who had taken a permaculture course in Australia and talked about it all the time. Being in somewhat of a lull, not knowing what else to do, I decided to look into it. I found a course with Warren Brush at Quail Springs near Ojai, California, and there was an opening. This course has changed my life.
I know now that permaculture and all of it's infinite facets are what, if anything, will save our planet. I am so grateful that I have finally found something that I feel comfortable devoting my life's energy to. Now I am looking for internships or volunteer positions helping at a permaculture farm so that I can learn and experience as much as possible about healthy living systems and hopefully, one day, master the art of life.
