I studied Business at Concordia University, Montreal and graduated in 2010 with a concentration in Management. While studying, I knew that my passion was to support small businesses. I spent the last 5 years doing exactly that. I began my career at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as a business coach, counseling entrepreneurs from the business planning stage to preparing them for loans.

On a personal level, what originally began as a specific goal to one day build my own house in Egypt using natural resources, developed into a deep passion for permaculture and learning everything I possibly can about nature and environmental sustainability. It became clear to me that I should combine my business and permaculture skills.

In 2014, I received my Permaculture Design Certificate from renowned teacher and consultant Geoff Lawton in the Dead Sea Valley in Jordan and was able to leave my job to pursue permaculture full-time. My current efforts are focused mainly on

- Developing a local cover crop guide for Egypt highlighting uses and benefits to desert soil
- Learning and disseminating composting skills to support nutrient recycling and to regenerate Egyptian soil
- Designing edible restorative landscaping for homes and businesses
- Implementing self-generated designs and maintenance of others’ designs
- Studying productive and non-productive crops and companion planting techniques to overcome weeds and pests without the use of destructive chemical substances
- Using my business background to support and increase local permaculture operations
