(projects i'm involved in)
On leaving school I aspired to solve pollution problems by studying chemical engineering so as to understand the causes...but it was way too hard to change the industry from within. I furthered my studies and work effort in waste management, cleaner technology, eco-sustainability...but it was way too hard to balance professional demands with a happy, healthy family.
Instead I now work to facilitate change for a brighter future by simply living my principles - permaculture principles - as a mother, home maker, gardener and community volunteer, while also developing my capacity, knowledge and skills to demonstrate, teach, consult and participate in aid projects.
Presently I contribute actively to Permaculture Sydney North, and with school age children still, I am working on improvements to my own suburban property, advising friends and neighbours on backyard vegetable growing, developing new vegetable growing beds at a nearby small acreage farm, supplying local families with boxes of chemical free fresh produce, and promoting LETS to our local community.
In the future, I hope to spend time back in my country of birth, South Africa, to help implement permaculture there.
