Graduated from the Kenya Institute of Organic Farming in 2004. Interned on community farm in Uganda and after proceeded to Gemany for biodynamic farming , implemented organic transition plan for urban farm in Nairobi as manager of Himidi Farm 2006-2008.
Attended PDC course in Musoma, Tanzania with instructor Geoff Lawton in October 2007. Since then, I
have implemented permaculture designs in Kenya East Africa, most notably a Farm to Restaraunt project for Sopa Lodges LLC in Masai Mara, samburu and Lake Naivasha from March 2008-September 2009.
Currently I have moved to the USA with my family where I produce commercil vegetables/fruits under high tunnels in New Hampshire, and also work as a farm production/business planning advisor for refugees participating in the New American Sustainable Agriculture Project in Lewiston, Maine.
I am in the process of setting up a permaculture site/project at the Kenya Institute of Organic Farming, with Exectutive Director John Njoroge. Harambee Permaculture will focus on preservation of indigenous knowledge and biodiversity, food security,community empowerment initiatives for women and youth and permaculture workshops. Through partnership with KIOF, Harambee Permaculture has access to 120 acres on several demonstration farms throughout Kenya, including infrastructure, such as water tanks conference halls/ and dormitories. We are currently seeking sources of funding and anyone interested to joins us to kick off the project January, 2012.
