I'm a married father of three working a full time job while also converting a rural residential 10 acres of planted pine into an abundant system that provides food to my family and community. In under three years, we've logged out the pine beetle prone pine and started raising dairy goats (and offering a herd share program), layer and broiler chickens, rabbits, and (new this year) turkeys.
I first heard of permaculture through Jack Spirko on The Survival Podcast (www.thesurvivalpodcast.com) and have expanded my knowledge and understanding of permaculture ethics, designs, and system features as Jack relayed them on my daily commute. I've come to believe that permaculture is the most ethical and also efficient means of providing for not just basic survival, but abundant enjoyment of life and the Creation with which we are entrusted.
I've just completed the 2014 Online PDC offerred by Geoff Lawton and am looking to take my permaculture designs and implementation (on our own farm) to the next level, maybe even jumping into consultation if I can get enough interest in my rural community where large swaths of land are unfortunately dedicated to corn/rye/soy/rye/repeat.
