Nathan Aldrich is a certified permaculture designer and teacher, and is Sustainability and Strategic Planning Coordinator with the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is a student of ecology, botany, and evolution.

With Nathan's help, UMass and its students convert conventional grass lawns and neglected spaces into thriving edible, resilient ecosystems in collaboration with thousands of volunteers and local community groups. These engaging and high-impact sites model regenerative agriculture techniques, improve ecosystem health, and help to feed the campus. This work has won many national awards, including the first White House Campus Champions of Change Challenge in 2012.

Nathan has been a featured presenter at dozens of workshops and events on permaculture and the power of community action, and he was instrumental in the development of both the "Permaculture Your Campus" and "Revisioning Sustainability" conferences. He is also an educator at the New England Aquarium, where he leads workshops on biodiversity and ecological conservation.
