O Curso de Design em Permacultura - PDC é uma imersão intensiva no universo da Permacultura. Este curso destina-se a apoiar os alunos a desenvolverem uma linguagem ecológica, uma compreensão dos princípios básicos de design ecológico e regenerativo, com

O Curso terá lugar Terra da Deusa em Palmela e cumpre o formato tradicional de 2 semanas (intensivo) com 1 dia livre (mais de 90 horas) criado por Bill Mollison, combinando aulas práticas (40%), teóricas, passeios no campo, jogos interactivos, actividades dinâmicas, partilha de experiências, vivência comunitária e muito mais. Este formato permite mergulhar nos princípios de design em Permacultura, que serão aplicados e apresentados pelos alunos nos trabalhos de design final.
Para terem direito ao certificado os participantes terão de assistir a 80% do curso.

Este curso tem como base os 14 capítulos do livro Permaculture : A Designers Manual by Bill Mollison.

Alguns dos temas a serem abordados neste curso:

- Princípios e éticas da Permacultura;

- Ler a paisagem. Observação dos padrões e ciclos da natureza;

- Princípios dos ecossistemas, clima e biogeografia aplicados na Permacultura;

- Princípios de Design: Processo de análise, zonas, plano energético eficiente, etc.;

- Identificação de recursos. Água no meio envolvente, recolha e conservação de água, energia solar, etc.;

- Construindo solo saudável: base da estrutura do solo, textura, etc. Estratégias para melhoramento de solos usando adubos verdes, composto, alfombra (mulch), controlo da erosão;

- Estabelecendo horta em Permacultura, florestas de alimentos - como seleccionar e manter estes sistemas. “ Como produzir mais alimento em pouco espaço” (método bio- intensivo);

- Recolha e conservação de sementes;

- Design de barreiras contra ventos / fogos; 

- Habitações / abrigos saudáveis: seleccionando lugar para a casa. Materiais não tóxicos. Sistemas de construção natural;

- Tecnologias apropriadas: Casas de banho secas, desidratadores solares, Fornos e fogões em barro (Cob), energias alternativas, reciclagem de materiais;

- Introdução ao design de comunidades sustentáveis e eco-vilas. Sistemas de organização em grupo. 
Economia alternativa, estratégias para uma nação global.

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
