Our experience on the Big Island has been great. Since we've been here, I have transformed our grassy half acre into a thriving tropical food forest with free ranging chickens that totally feed themselves from the system (got to love the fact that there are no predators). Some pics of this project are posted below.
I also picked up few clients in which a Permaculture design was created and implement. My wife and I also started the East Hawaii Timebank. In our two years on the Big Island, we have helped increase food security and social connections.
As much as we love the ample rainfall, lovely sun, fun surf and all the people, CA is calling us home. To make that transition easier I recently landed a job as Farm Production Manager with the Green Valley Village in Sebastopol. I hope to be able to increase the production from the farm as well as begin to integrate more permaculture principles onto the land.
For all of you in the area, we hope to offer advanced hands on Permaculture Training courses at very affordable prices or even free. We believe in sharing and educating everyone, regardless of income, what they need to know to begin implementing Permaculture designs in their lives.
Looking forward to this new change, see you all there.
