i just returned from the permaculture course in sri lanka, which was quite interessting and gave me some insight into the problematics and advantages of humid tropics;
we (european and sighalese participants both) also learned (of course with the singhalese participants help) about traditional ways of storing seed, dry rice cultivation (as opposed ot wet rice cultivation - which is really unnecessary and is just breeding a helluva lot mosquitos :P ) - and also about traditional (ayurvedic) herbal remedies.
Also aquaculture, water retention, mandala garden, mulching, composting, food forest (and we visited some traditional home gardens/forest gardens in kandy area) etc. were much appreciated topics.
so now i am back in Vienna, and stayin her for a while. Will see whats coming up next, probably some permaculture workshops to get through wintertime in vienna city, and learning more about central european wild herbs and lots of drawing, of course :)
