The first project that I will get involved in is a new community garden project of about 200m2 in a residential estate in Singapore.
The first step was to convince the neighbourhood committee to make use of the land which was otherwise not being used. Despite the small area, a few principles of permaculture will be implemented such as water management (it rains a LOT here), pattern (mostly a zone 1+small zone 2), probably a small pound, a worm farm and, still in negotiation, 2-3 chickens. Most, if not all, the crops will be local species of vegetables, herbs and a few fruit trees (papaya, bananas and maybe trying for custard apples).
This space will also be used for educational workshops about composting, organic gardening, basics of permaculture etc and community bonding events like markets etc...
I will make sure to post pictures as it goes, I am hoping to get started by end of October!
