Just arrived in Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii! I will probably be in Hawaii until February 28. My mission is to learn more about cacao (how it grows, how it is processed all the way from the bean to the chocolate bar, will be doing this with Madre Chocolate).
Aside from chocolate, I am especially eager to deepen my skills in permaculture and natural building and get some hands-on experience. I would love to connect to as many interesting projects and people as possible while I'm here! I travel on a very low budget so I am interested in working in exchange for accomodation and possibly food.
At the moment I am staying with a family that grows cacao a little north of Hilo. I'm looking forward to meeting soul mates for inspiration, hiking, dancing, and maybe even bodywork trades (I am a certified Esalen massage practitioner).
Are you in Hawaii or do you have any recommendations for me? Do you have work for me? Please get in touch!
{The picture is taken from Madre Chocolates Facebook page and shows cacao pods from this region which I'll hopefully soon be harvesting myself.}
