You may have completed a Permaculture Design Course or read around the subject, and now you want to get hands-on training with guidance from an experienced teacher. Gardening or permaculture experience is not required but you must be keen to contribute and to learn.
The Awakened Life Project is an opportunity to experience being part of a community that really works, where people are committed to living together beyond ego to create a new culture. During the internship you will have the opportunity to explore the interior aspects of sustainability and evolution, including your own spiritual development as well as encouragement to improve your own physical health and vitality making this a truly Integral Permaculture experience.
(See our vision page for more information.)
What you will gain as an Intern:
• Living as part of a community that is creating a new culture beyond ego, with the opportunity to explore conscious evolution and consciously evolve!
• Experience of putting permaculture principles into practice: You will work closely with me, Laura Williams, giving you the opportunity to get direct feedback from an experienced permaculturalist.
• The chance to participate in our exciting, pioneering phase of land development, with opportunities for creating as well as for maintaining our gardens.
• Hands on experience of current garden and land projects such as creating garden structures, forest gardening, brewing & applying compost tea, irrigation systems, mulching, soil fertility, bees and edible mushrooms.
• The opportunity to meditate once a day and participate in other community activities such as yoga and discussion groups.
• A vegetarian diet of nutritious and delicious food – mainly raw – including many wild foods that you will learn to forage.
• Experience of off-grid living, if you are interested in alternative sources of power there will be space to find out what it is like to live by these means.
• Time in a beautiful valley with pristine air and water and cascading waterfalls in the heart of the Serra do Açor mountains.
• Access to our fantastic library of permaculture books.
What you will bring
• A keen interest in our vision
• Energy, enthusiasm, commitment and creative input
• A passion for working with nature and permaculture principles
• Enthusiasm to take part in community living and tasks such as meal preparation
Other information
