advanced permaculture principles and reading the landscape

Posted by andy macey almost 13 years ago

2 days of learning at Meliodora

A great 2 days at David Holgren's.

The 1st day was focused on really investigating David's Principles and applying them to situations as diverse as permaculture design and implementation to raising children!

Lots of group work and an amazing bunch of guy's.

Day 2 involved reading the landscape and to hear David explain the techniques and resources available as well as marvel at the depth of knowledge he has was amazing!

We did allot ot walking aroun Hepburn and got to attempt some readings (certainly some had great skills, I wasn't one of them lol)

I am inspired to learn and practice as much as I can as a priority in my Permaculture endeavours.

Lastly we got to follow David on a tour of the regeneration work he and volunteers from the local community have been undertaking in a blackberry covered gully, previously used to sluice for the purposes of gold mining.

His take on regen was eye opening and certainly and definitly lead to a understanding that the commonly practiced regen efforts may be lacking in most cases.

As I said a great couple of days with an amazing collection of Permies!
