I am a 30 something father of three who grew up in the country, small town Ohio, around Amish and rural farmers. As far as I can remember my father has grown organic beef (long before organic was popular) in as low of an impact way as possible. By listening to him and enjoying the world around me I learned to love Mother Nature as it.
As I got older I found myself working in corporate America not overly thrilled with going to a job where I helped people but did not add fundamental value to the world. On top of that noticing the signs around us that there is a big change coming in the world I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to learn how to take care of the most important people in the world -- myself and my family. As I looked around the internet and started to educate myself I found myself quickly realizing that not only had we as a species lost a way of life that worked, but we had not really found much of value to replace it. I determined I wanted to learn everything I could to become self sufficient and the logical extension of being self sufficient is ensuring that your children have the same or more resources to draw on when it is their turn to find their way.
I currently live in Southern Ohio USA and I am looking forward to joining a group of other like minded permaculture folks in that area to cross-pollinate ideas. Long term I would like to take more PDC classes, teach and consult.
