Have worked in the building industry for nearly twenty years some thirteen years with my own company. Just recently did a course on Green Living (energy efficient housing). Could see that our current methods of construction are not sustainable and am very interested in doing further courses on earth house construction eg. Straw bale,rammed earth and earth bag construction.
I first heard about permaculture back in the early nineties watching ABC tv with a documentary by Bill Mollinson. It left a lasting impression which I never forgot and some twenty years later have finally managed to do my PDC.
I hope to use my building knowledge and combine it with permaculture principles to steer my business towards more sustainable construction. Currently trying to set up urban backyard to be as productive as possible. We have set up numerous raised garden beds set up a chook run, bath tub worm farm and various fruit trees in pots. Long term we are looking to move out to small acreage as our backyard is filling up very fast
