Hi. Bob here.
After working professionally (as an architectural designer) for three years, starting a computer consultancy business, and working as a resident gallery artist in downtown KCMO, I realized that most of my reality was service oriented and virtual (I was tied to the computer) and I needed to break away from this pattern.
In 2009, I jumped ship and began WWOOFing around the United States. I was introduced to Permaculture at a farm in the Mojave Desert of California. Eureka!! I believed that this was the future of selfless, thoughtful living... Now, inspired to a deepening and need to attempt the practice first hand.
In 2011, I broke ground on 3 acres of pasture in rural Johnson County, MO. I have constructed a two story strawbale house, swales are capturing water and feeding the soil which supports hundreds of edibles: fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines, flowers and vegetables.
In 2013, I graduated from Geoff Lawton's Permaculture Design Course and actively consulting others on residential and rural sites.
After five years of permaculture design applications, I am interested in a system that's a bit less-diverse and a bit more production based. Let's build working permanent production farms of superior cultivated crops for market! And give those natives due respect for long-term harvests!
