My first vision of what I later came to know as Permaculture was watching Sepp Holzer in the Global Gardener Series. Watching him perform magic high up the mountains, was pretty much astonishing. I was, at that point of time trying to come to grips with food security and here was a mighty example. This image of a Rebel Farmer, working along with nature and not according to 'conventions' stuck to me. As I got to know more about Permaculture through friends and well wishers, I loved its principles and ethics and was able to better appreciate the design aspect of it!

What followed was trying to set up home gardens, roof-top gardens, buliding food forests along with friends (and now Permaculturists), all the while observing the nature and its beauty.

Permaculture is exhaustive yet the its solutions are simplistic. It is what I would call 'common sense'. And it is this common sense which I find lacking in society.

I personally feel the need of hour is Permaculture education and that too in urban context where there is excessive consumption. With this in mind I look forward to conducting such PDCs and retrofitting of cities!
