I grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida immersed in nature enjoying activities like surfing, canoeing, and fishing. In 2006, I graduated from Florida State University with a Biological/Earth Science Education degree and then went on to teach high school Environmental Science for 2 years.
I moved to Oahu in 2008 and in between my surf sessions a new spark of interest in backyard gardening came about. After a year of "growing my own," I was inspired to share the knowledge and build gardens for friends.
During the summer of 2012, I put together a free 9 week gardening workshop with the mission of teaching basic gardening skills, building community relationships over local food, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. I coined the group “Growing Together,” which is still active today.
I later learned of an organization called Permablitz Hawaii, which was my first formal introduction to permaculture. In August 2012, I completed my PDC and moved onto a farm at Positive Energetics Foundation where I've able to apply my permaculture knowledge. I'm involved with several volunteer projects in the north shore community. I help organize, design, and lead Permablitzes. I started the North Shore Edible Bike Path, where each month I lead a community planting day in hopes of creating a 4 mile stretch of edible landscape for everyone to enjoy. I also teach a variety of permaculture and gardening workshops once a month. My vision is to keep learning, teaching, and living permaculture.
