I grew up on a farm and learned how to do things the wrong way first - with conventional American agriculture. I started a gardening podcast in 2009 called The Self-Sufficient Gardener where I teach people how to build efficient, responsible and sustainable food systems.
I've been studying permaculture for a while - since I discovered peak oil and it became apparent that we had to change the way we did things as a society.
I'm currently working on my own site - a 4 acre homestead in Western Kentucky. I'm conducting experiments there and turning it into a food production system that will last for generations.
