Janelle is a vegetarian chef hailing from Trinidad and Tobago. She underwent classical training at the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute and holds a BSc. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of the West Indies. She is currently pursuing a Diploma in Institutional and Community Nutrition and Dietetics to become a registered dietitian and will be furthering with a MS in Human Nutrition in the coming months.
In 2011, she completed her PDC at Wa Samaki Ecosystems in Freeport, Trinidad and continues to be an annual volunteer. She is a current vermiculturist and practices the principles of permaculture when volunteering on the lands of her gayap 'tribe'. She intends on acquiring an abandoned cocoa estate in the future and transforming it into a food forest.
She enjoys learning new languages, namely Arabic, French and Trinidadian Sign Language and is a recreational triathlete, adventure racer and road cyclist.
