I think I must have been a permaculturist all my life, but was just looking for a name for it. I loved spending time in nature and always questioned why people were pulling dandelions in the yard when no one had to do it in the forest. I always wondered why we would spend so much money and energy on purchasing pre-packaged food when I knew it was possible to grow food on the land around us.
I first heard the term 'permaculture' in 2009 when my wife had mentioned it from a "lunch-and-learn" she had attended at work. She told me I should look into it as it encompassed my beliefs and values so well. I took the introductory course with Adrian Buckley and followed that up with the PDC through Verge Permaculture with Rob Avis. I have not turned back since.
I have recently founded "Prairie Sage Permaculture" and am about to launch the website. I also just completed designing a system for a community garden for the Wildwood community in Calgary and have other clients interested. As well I am offering courses in the next couple of months.
