Hi, my name is Tracy McLoud. I am the owner of Terra Living, LLC in Belton, Texas. Until recently, Terra Living focused on design, installation and maintenance of mostly residential landscapes focusing on the use of Texas native and well-adapted plants, strictly organic methods and some permaculture techniques. I have been interested in permaculture for years and recently obtained my design certificate. Terra Living has done some natural building with mostly cob and created the Hobbit House, a very large cob playhouse that is featured as my profile picture.
My wife, Roxann and I live in an old farm-style house on a residential lot in the historical district of Belton. We call our place The Funny Farm because things get a little crazy around here trying to manage 4 chickens, 3 bunnies, 2 rescue dogs, 3 rescue cats on this little lot. We have implemented many permaculture systems at the 'farm', including rainwater collection, organic veggie gardens, greywater usage, solar oven cooking, an earthen oven and more.
Our goals are to implement more permaculture elements to use every inch wisely so that we can sustain ourselves off of our 0.25 acres of land as much as possible and to turn The Funny Farm into a permaculture learning center. Our ultimate goal is to rent out both the house and garage apartment on our property to other permies who will keep The Funny Farm going as a functional urban permaculture farm and learning center and Roxann and I will live in a bus while we build our cob cottage on a large piece of land where we will almost completely sustain ourselves using permaculture practices.
Greetings! :-)
