Maija hails from the Chicago suburbs where she grew up on an old farm property gardening and discovering the natural world. She is a Child & Youth Development Professional, Community & Educational Garden Volunteer, Permaculture Consultant & Designer, and World Traveler.

While wwoofing in Peru and Costa Rica in 2012, Maija was introduced to Permaculture and rediscovered it while living in Melbourne, where she got her PDC at Telopea Mountain Permaculture.

She currently teaches at a public Montessori school in the East Bay integrating the school's garden and orchard into the curriculum as well as supporting the design and maintenance of the garden. Maija is interested in learning about other Permaculture opportunities in the Bay Area; she is new to the area, so please reach out!
