I've become really interested in Permaculture in the last few years, after discovering it through researching and looking for new systems and approaches towards sustainability. So far, my experience has been in growing produce at my local community garden, vermicomposting, and learning about aquaponics through research and a local workshop.

I try to volunteer on weekends, whenever I can, at a great non-profit project called The Plant, http://www.plantchicago.com/ here in Chicago, that's founded on a model of closed energy, resource loop system. I've also been spending my off time reading the Permaculture Handbook to prepare for eventually taking the certification course, and spend some time volunteering or interning on an established permaculture farm or business of some sort to gain experience.

Right now, I'm really looking to meet others with similar interests in the field to network, share resources, or find a mentor of some sort that I can learn from in this new and exciting field. I'm especially interested to meet others nearby, close to the City of Chicago, but would be interested in creating relationships with others worldwide as well.
