I'm a father of 4, my partner,4 children and I live on 80 acres just off the central QLD coast Australia. I am a fully qualified plumber and I am only doing this because I have to not because I want to.
We first came across permaculture by watching Geoff Lawton's water harvesting DVD and we watched this due to the lack of rain (an average of 800 to 900mm/per year) and the lay of the land and the large amount of soil erosion we experience.
We are currently in the design process for our property as it is in desperate need for a major change for the better. Within the local area there is large amounts of sprays used to kill and maintain the land due to the classification of certain weeds (the introduced species) called noxious. Our over all goal is that we are constructing a market garden for the locals and we will eventually turn our property into a demonstration for anyone and in the local area there is nothing to teach/explain/help the surrounding community in which there is a large call for and in desperate need. I have completed Geoff Lawton's online Permaculture Design Course, in which we are still going over and over again. This is the start of a new beginning in which we wish to share with all those interested.
