I fell in love with observing and exploring nature as a young child while hiking in nearby mountains, attending outdoor science camps, participating in girl scouts, raising farm animals, and having several failed gardening attempts in the desert where I lived. That love and connection grew into a passion for homesteading and cultivating natural systems. I saw patterns all around me and food being produced without the hands of men.
I became aware of permaculture long after I had already been practicing it. It seemed to me the obvious solution. Several years after my discovery of the permaculture network, I was finally able to take a PDC with Geoff Lawton in 2015.
Since graduating from the PDC, I first have a desire to create a permaculture demonstration site in my home area. This is because many will not believe without seeing. The climate is in the arid high-desert where the water conservation strategies and food production strategies of permaculture would have tangible and beneficial impact on surrounding communities. In addition, I would like to start working alongside food-pantry and aid organizations to set up sites for local fresh food for those in need.
